And now for something a little different we have a free online service where you can check if someone contacting you is listed as a scammer or if someone is using your identity to scam others.

The Translator Scammers Directory is a website that provides you with free information about scammers, the kinds of scams, how you can protect yourself, etc. The list comes in two parts and literally contains information of thousands of scammers. If you know of a scam or a scammer you can provide the information you have via email.

You can also check if you show up on that list and try to convince the people running that directory that your are not a scammer. If you read the FAQ on the Translator Scammers Directory page you will see that the people running the site have a high opinion of themselves but I believe that even they can make mistakes 🙂
