DeepL is the best free machine translation engine you can find online for the languages it supports. This is of course just our opinion but it is based on many translations we have finished to test this service.
The translations provided by DeepL are in general better than those of the Google NMT engine. However, we don’t want to hide that Google’s NMT service recently cought somewhat up and got much closer to the quality of the translations provided by DeepL. In addition DeepL provides its service only for 7 languages which is a small number compared to the over 100 languages Google Translate supports. But if you are translating within the supported languages then you should definitely try DeepL.
Supported languages
The supported languages are: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish. Note: According to some information on the internet the team from DeepL is currently working on adding Japanese and Portugese to the list.
DeepL Translator API
Recently an API was made available to make the DeepL service available for people who want to implement the service into their software. This means for example that the service could be implemented into CAT tools (e.g. OmegaT, memoQ, etc.) or into WordPress plug-ins to translate websites on the fly. Unfortunately a price list is not available online so we send a query to the DeepL sales team to get some information which we will post here when available.
It would also be great if some desktop translation software could implement DeepL so that leveraging this service would be easier. We contacted the team of QTranslate to see if they have some plans. We will let you know when we get a response.
